Prague public transport tips

Dear colleagues, please find below a few tips on Prague public transport from us, or open the PDF document with the summary: Prague transport tips_STW_Central Library.

As you will need to move around the city during the Staff Training Week, I would like to share some information about Prague public transport and tips for a better orientation. The public transport in Prague works well — you can use the subway, trams, buses, or trolleybuses. General information and transport network maps can be found on this website: https://pid.cz/en/transport-schemes/.

How do you find a connection? Just go to the website of Prague Integrated Transport, “PID”, and search for the connection you need: https://pid.cz/en/. I recommend you also download their mobile application, where you can search for all connections and departures as well as manage ticket purchases. You can find more information on the website: https://app.pidlitacka.cz/o-aplikaci. The app is available on Google Play and the App Store. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a high rating, but I use it almost daily, and I am satisfied. So, you will see.

Ticket’s price information:

You can read more about tickets here: https://pid.cz/en/for-tourists/what-ticket-should-i-use/. To find out where to buy your tickets, please read here: https://pid.cz/en/tickets-and-fare/how-to-buy-ticket/The important thing about paper tickets is that you always need to validate them — in the case of the subway, by the machine before you enter the vehicle, and in the case of buses and trams, by the machine in the vehicle immediately after getting on.

The electronic ticket bought via the mobile application must be activated in the app after the purchase and before entering the vehicle.
