Faculty of Law
► In collaboration with the CU Faculty of Law, students can still take advantage of the extraordinary weekend hours at the CU Faculty of Law’s Library (Curieových 7, Prague 1). The library is open to students of all CU faculties on weekdays (Monday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and also on weekends (Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
First Faculty of Medicine
► In collaboration with CU’s First Faculty of Medicine, all students may now visit the library of the First Faculty of Medicine on weekends as well from 17 May to 29 June, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (U Nemocnice 4, Prague 2).
Protestant Theological Faculty
► Starting in May, CU’s Protestant Theological Faculty will offer students its study room every weekday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during May and June (Černá 646/9, 110 00 Prague 1). For students from different faculties, ISIC card registration before the first visit is obligatory to access the study rooms during weekend opening hours.
Centrum Krystal
► In addition, students may use the study room in the premises of Centrum Krystal (José Martího 407/2, Prague 6 – map here), which is open 24/7 and has increased capacity. The Studovna navigation on the signboards must be followed in the building.
Faculty of Social Sciences in Jinonice
► New for the 2024/2025 summer semester, the night study rooms of the Faculty of Social Sciences in Jinonice are also open on a pilot basis for students outside CU’s Faculty of Social Sciences. These students can request access to the night study room for a limited period of time. The request can be made online. The library in Jinonice normally allows access to all CU students during its opening hours. Students of other faculties who are not enrolled in a course at the Faculty of Social Sciences will receive a visitor’s card for accessing the library at the library’s reception desk.
Municipal Library of Prague
► On a pilot basis, the Municipal Library of Prague will open the Mariánské náměstí Central Library on Sundays as well. To enter the library, you must have a valid Municipal Library card and no outstanding debts (i.e. no late returns or unpaid fees on the reader’s library account), and you must be at least 15 years old. The library will be open on a self-service basis, i.e. it will not be possible to borrow books from the closed stacks. The Municipal Library’s wi-fi will be available. Since the Municipal Library is not an educational institution, access to eduroam is not available. Visitors will be able to use the quiet study areas as well as dedicated coworking spaces. The Municipal Library will monitor interest in these extended hours and will make the service permanent if interest is confirmed. Charles University will cooperate with the Municipal Library of Prague in promoting the extended opening hours. The Municipal Library is also considering introducing Sunday opening hours at the Dejvice branch, the National Technical Library building.
Charles University wishes its students every success in achieving their academic goals.
